ACTION: CONTEMPLATE IN ACTION
Tana Quincy is a visual artist who comes from a background of Christian faith. As a young believer, the goals of her faith seemed at odds with her desire to make art. You can read her contemplative responses here.
With a strong desire to publicly express her authentic creative self, Quincy will take action. In Ignatian Spirituality, St. Ignatius called Jesuits to be “contemplatives in action.” Because her faith most reflects contemplative spirituality and is often expressed through journalling, she will to share her journal entries regarding contemporary political climate.
During Trump’s first 100 days, she will be looking into the writings of MLK Jr, Pope Francis, Chance the Rapper and many others to compose contemplative writings against hatred, judgment, and all things unbecoming of our nation. Her purpose will be to identify where the country’s leadership is veering us off course from the words of these grounding visionaries and to ignite personal revolutions within the soul.
Quincy will be observing, reading, meditating, and seeking insight daily. Every ten days she will compile her work into a piece to share. She will repeat this throughout the stretch of 100 days for a total of ten writings.
